Astrology is a Science of Divination by which we predict the course of Human Destiny by the indications deduced from the positions and movements of heavenly bodies (Planets, stars, moons, comets, meteors and asteroids). Indian Astrology or Vedic astrology, created by Sage Bhrigu in the vedic era is a map of our Karma. It allows us to understand our nature and destiny in order to navigate through our lives in fulfilling the goal (goal to attain moksha).
Planets we know as per our school study are not significantly used in Astrology.

The 5 major planets are
2 are Rahu & Ketu - north and south node of the moon respectively. They are always 180 degrees opposite to each other. They are the Karmic planets and show the karma a person brings to this life.
Other planets like Uranus, Neptune and Pluto are not mentioned in the Rig veda and are scarcely taken to be of prime importance in a person's horoscope or chart.
Like how a soldier uses a gun to fight similarly an Astrologer needs a Horoscope to predict the events of life journey of an individual.
A circle is 360 degrees and chart is 360 degrees as it shows the entire cosmos and all planets in it. It is divided into 12 houses and each house is 30 degrees (i.e 360 / 12= 30).
Each house is called a Rashi. So there are 12 rashis or 12 houses
In the 12 houses or Rashis we have a total of 27 Nakshatras or constellations. Each constellation a 13 degrees and 20 minutes of arc. Approximately 2 and half nakshatra occupy one house or rashi. The nakshatra are in turn divided into 4 Padas or quarters.
